This is a direct hire Automation Engineer opportunity supporting controls and drives work for custom automated machinery near North Syracuse, NY. Schedule Full time, onsite in North Syracuse, NY. Straight time pay applies for any hours worked over 45 in a given week. The role requires approximately 30% travel, including domestic and occasional international trips. Compensation $95,000 to $110,000 base salary, plus a bonus plan. What You'll Do This role covers controls software development, including PLC programming in ladder logic and function block diagrams, HMI development, PLC network architecture, and AC/DC drive configuration alongside legacy controls integration. The Automation Engineer also handles testing and commissioning work, including system testing and validation, machine startup and commissioning, and remote or onsite troubleshooting and technical support. On the engineering and project support side, responsibilities include technical documentation and reporting, providing technical support for sales and application studies, and collaborating across teams and directly with customers throughout project execution. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) 3 to 5+ years of controls or automation engineering experience Experience programming Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs Strong knowledge of AC/DC drive systems and industrial control networks Experience with HMI development and supervisory control systems Familiarity with AutoCAD and industrial automation software Ability to travel approximately 30%, including domestic and occasional international travel Preferred Qualifications Experience with FactoryTalk View or Siemens WinCC HMI platforms Prior experience in automated equipment manufacturing or custom OEM machine building Experience supporting sales engineering or technical application studies Working knowledge of industrial networking protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, or DeviceNet) Compensation and Benefits $95,000 to $110,000 base salary, plus bonus plan Straight time pay for hours worked over 45 per week Automatic 401(k) company contribution Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and paid holidays To apply, please submit your resume for consideration.
