Network Engineer

Technology Services Responsibilities:
Understand and diagnose computer malfunctions, bugs, and security threats in county networks. Install and maintain hardware and software in a timely and efficient manner. Interact with all departments to perform systems analysis in support of the County in a professional manner and maintain and enter detailed information about work performed. Provide efficient, non-stop running of the county's network, as a Network Engineer you will look after the IP network, maintain equipment, and core network elements, and ensure minimum downtime. You will also grow or move the network to meet consumer demand and be available for call outs. Interacts with departments of the County in a professional manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES
& Required Licenses or Certifications Diagnose computer and network issues in a timely manner and ability to set up hardware components and install software onto all county computers as assigned. Maintain network and system security. Analyze and isolate issues. Evaluate and modify system's performance. Works with Network team to maintain productive and stable system support. Audits resources and events, monitors security of network equipment and wiring objects; maintains network security against attacks. Assists users in the evaluation, selection of specialized departmental, and organization wide application software. Maintains knowledge of current "state of the art" server technology and applies this technology, wherever possible to current and future computer systems. Ability to always interact with all department's levels in a professional manner. Ability to understand and diagnose computer and network related issues on all county computers, both in person and remotely. Attend various courses to stay knowledgeable of new technology; studies various materials, publications, and manuals to enhance expertise. Regular attendance is essential and necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities required for this job. Scheduled to be on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotating basis to provide after-hours support to departments that work beyond normal business hours of Monday-Friday 8:30am until 5:00pm. Schedule will be issued monthly. Maintains network backup storage. Performs other related duties as required. Valid South Carolina Driver's License or ability to obtain one within 90 days.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Education and Experience Associate degree 3 to 5 years' experience in Network Systems
