The Senior Cisco Network Engineer will serve as the project's primary network engineering subject matter expert and support the deployment, configuration, integration, validation, and troubleshooting of Cisco network infrastructure supporting a secure SIPR virtual desktop environment. The engineer will work closely with the Project Manager/Site Lead, VDI/HCI Engineer, Cybersecurity Engineer, Air Force technical personnel, and other project stakeholders to ensure the new environment is properly integrated with Government-furnished network infrastructure and meets applicable DoD and Air Force security and operational requirements. Key Responsibilities Assess and document the existing network environment supporting the SIPR thin-client and VDI infrastructure. Review existing network architecture, configurations, VLANs, IP addressing, routing, switching, uplinks, firewall dependencies, and network connectivity requirements. Configure, integrate, validate, and troubleshoot Cisco switches and associated network infrastructure supporting the new environment. Support installation and network integration of a four-node hyperconverged infrastructure cluster and associated VDI environment. Coordinate network connectivity requirements for VMware vSphere, vSAN, Horizon 8, management networks, virtual desktops, and related infrastructure. Configure and validate VLANs, trunking, access ports, Layer 2/Layer 3 connectivity, routing, network segmentation, and management interfaces as required. Support integration of Government-furnished Cisco networking equipment with newly installed compute, storage, and VDI infrastructure. Perform network discovery and baseline assessments before implementation. Analyze existing configurations and identify network dependencies, risks, conflicts, or required configuration changes before production deployment. Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, latency, packet loss, authentication, and other network-related issues during implementation and testing. Assist with secure network architecture and segmentation consistent with DoD cybersecurity and Zero Trust principles. Coordinate closely with cybersecurity personnel to ensure network devices and configurations comply with applicable DISA STIGs, DoD cybersecurity requirements, and Air Force security standards . Support implementation and validation activities within a SIPRNet / classified environment . Conduct network testing and validation before transition to production. Support system acceptance testing, troubleshooting, and technical issue resolution with Air Force personnel. Develop and maintain network diagrams, configuration documentation, IP/VLAN documentation, implementation records, and as-built documentation. Document configuration changes and provide technical information required for project turnover and Government acceptance. Participate in technical meetings, implementation planning sessions, risk reviews, and project status meetings. Provide knowledge transfer and technical support to Government personnel as required. Required Qualifications Active DoD Secret security clearance. 4+ years of progressively responsible network engineering experience, preferably supporting DoD or Federal Government environments. Significant hands-on experience engineering and supporting Cisco enterprise network infrastructure . Advanced knowledge of Cisco routing and switching technologies.

Experience troubleshooting complex network connectivity issues using standard network diagnostic tools and methodologies. Ability to review and interpret network diagrams, architecture documents, port maps, IP address plans, and configuration files. Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements and secure network configuration practices. Ability to work independently in a highly controlled military environment while coordinating with Government and contractor technical teams. Strong technical documentation and communication skills. Highly Desired Qualifications Current CCNP Enterprise certification. CCIE or equivalent senior-level Cisco engineering experience. Previous experience supporting Air Force, DoD, SIPRNet, NIPRNet, or other classified networks . Experience with VMware vSphere, VMware vSAN, or VMware Horizon environments. Experience supporting VDI deployments and thin-client architectures. Experience integrating Cisco networking with Dell VxRail or other hyperconverged infrastructure. Experience applying or validating DISA Network Infrastructure STIGs . Experience with network hardening, secure configuration baselines, vulnerability remediation, and DoD RMF environments. Familiarity with Zero Trust network segmentation concepts. Security+ or other DoD 8140/8570-aligned certification. Project Environment The project involves modernization of a secure Air Force VDI environment supporting up to approximately 300 thin-client endpoints . The infrastructure includes a four-node hyperconverged cluster, VMware virtualization and VDI technologies, NVIDIA virtual GPU capabilities, secure gold images, and Government-furnished Cisco network infrastructure. The Cisco Network Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the underlying network infrastructure successfully supports the new compute and VDI architecture while maintaining required security, availability, and performance. Location Goodfellow Air Force Base San Angelo, Texas This position requires onsite support at Goodfellow AFB during scheduled implementation activities . Some planning, engineering, documentation, and coordination activities may be performed remotely depending upon project requirements and access restrictions. Clearance Requirement Candidates must possess a current, active DoD Secret clearance and be eligible for access to the required Air Force facilities and systems. Ability to obtain and maintain Goodfellow AFB installation access is required.
