What we do At CMC North America, we help our customers grow their businesses by offering specialized access equipment backed by first-class customer service. Our Parts and Service Teams support customers throughout the life of their equipment through technical support, preventive maintenance, inspections, warranty service, parts, diagnostics, and repairs. We provide service from our facilities in Methuen, Massachusetts and Salem, New Hampshire, as well as in the field throughout North America. The Role CMC North America is looking for an Aerial Lift Service Technician I or II to join our Service Team in Salem, New Hampshire. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys diagnosing problems, working with sophisticated equipment, and seeing a repair through from problem to solution. CMC aerial lifts combine hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, CANBUS, and intelligent sensor systems , giving our technicians the opportunity to build expertise across multiple technologies rather than working on the same repair every day. Depending on experience, technicians may perform work independently or alongside senior technicians. Work includes equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, equipment preparation, and field service. This is also a customer-facing position. Our technicians represent CMC when supporting customers in our facility, at customer locations, and occasionally by phone.
Pay Range:
$28.00 - $40.00 per hour ($58,240 - $83,200 Annually), depending on experience and demonstrated technical capability.
Annual Bonus Opportunity:
Up to 3% of base earnings, based on company and individual performance; not guaranteed. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on CMC aerial lifts and related equipment Perform preventive maintenance, annual inspections, and equipment repairs Complete pre-delivery inspections and prepare new equipment for customer delivery Inspect and prepare equipment before and after rental or demonstration use Troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic software, technical documentation, electrical schematics, gauges, and specialized tools Identify root causes of equipment issues and determine appropriate repair solutions Complete service reports, work orders, and repair documentation accurately and on time Safely operate and move equipment within the shop and at customer locations Provide professional, solution-focused support to customers during service interactions Perform field service at customer locations once qualified Participate in the emergency service/on-call rotation once fully trained and qualified Support other technicians and Service Department operations as needed
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma or GED Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience repairing vehicles, equipment, machinery, aircraft, or similar systems Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and identify the cause of equipment failures Comfortable using computers, mobile devices, and electronic diagnostic tools Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record Ability to lift, push, or pull 70+ pounds and perform work requiring climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working with arms raised Ability and willingness to travel locally and occasionally throughout the United States once qualified Strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and customer service
Preferred:
Experience servicing aerial lifts, heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, automotive systems, or similar machinery Experience diagnosing hydraulic and electrical systems Field service experience Experience reading electrical and hydraulic schematics Experience with CANBUS or other equipment communication/sensor systems Technical education or training in automotive technology, diesel technology, heavy equipment, aviation maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related field OSHA 10 certification DOT Medical Card Forklift certification Military mechanical or equipment-maintenance training Level Placement Candidates may be hired as a Technician I or Technician II based on their experience and demonstrated technical capability. Technician I Developing technician with foundational mechanical experience who can perform routine service and repairs while continuing to develop advanced diagnostic and aerial-lift expertise. Technician II Experienced technician capable of independently diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic equipment issues and performing field service with limited supervision. What Success Looks Like Equipment is diagnosed accurately and repaired correctly the first time Inspections, maintenance, and repairs are completed safely and thoroughly Service documentation is accurate and completed on time Customers receive professional, responsive, solution-focused support Technical knowledge and diagnostic capability continue to grow The technician becomes a trusted resource for customers and other members of the CMC team Location This position is based at the CMC North America Service Center in Salem, New Hampshire. The majority of work is performed in our service facility. Once qualified, technicians may also travel to customer locations for field service. Travel is shared among the Service Team, with additional travel opportunities available for employees who are interested.
