Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Windows Patching Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and executing patching processes across Windows-based servers and systems, ensuring optimal security, stability, and performance. Your expertise will help maintain a resilient IT infrastructure by applying timely updates, troubleshooting patching issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in system administration and security. Responsibilities Monthly Windows Patching, Office Patching, and 3rd-Party Applications Patching
  • Ensure Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager Automatic Deployment Rules run, confirm deployments are set correctly on patching schedule, patch notes are reviewed, review of reported patching issues, and engage internal stakeholders to address any issues identified.
  • Patch remediation & adding new product classifications as needed. Reporting
  • Generate reports based on MECM inventory stored in database using SQL and PowerShell.
  • Create custom SQL queries and PowerShell scripts to pull relevant data requested by multiple internal analysts, compliance representatives, and leadership. Application Packaging
  • Using PowerShell toolkit Create silent install/uninstall packages, where applications sometimes require custom configurations or post installation tasks, as well as custom detections. Configurations
  • Deploy configurations for applications, desktops, servers, or users as needed, primarily using PowerShell, but can include other methods. Patch/Package Issue Remediation
  • Troubleshoot patching or application installation issues, working from ServiceNow Incidents, team members' direction, post-deployment reviews, or management. Done primarily through MECM logs, machine logs, event logs, installation logs, and PowerShell. Software Approvals
  • Process ServiceNow tasks assigned as part of Software Approval Process for review to determine production deployment requirements, collaborating with other teams. Microsoft Intune
  • Assist with AutoPilot-required application packaging, migrate MECM app packages to Intune, configurations, deployment group creations, and app deployments. PMPC (Patch My PC)
  • Using this tool to maintain catalog of routine third-party apps, and is integrated with MECM and Intune.
Used for third-party deployments, updates, and maintain PMPC tool versioning/release notes.

  • Troubleshooting skills Qualifications Proven experience in Windows Server administration with a strong understanding of operating systems, system architecture, and system design principles.
Hands-on knowledge of system troubleshooting support for software issues related to patching failures or performance problems. Familiarity with IT infrastructure components such as RAID controllers, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, load balancing, and network security protocols (information security). Experience with automation tools, scripting languages including PowerShell, or Shell Scripting. Understanding of database management systems like SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle is a plus for supporting backend systems. Strong grasp of configuration management practices and tools for maintaining consistent environments across multiple servers. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to perform detailed technical troubleshooting support on complex issues involving operating systems or software applications. Ability to work effectively within an Agile environment while supporting SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) processes related to system updates. Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
