NEW CANAAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY DISTRICT TECHNICIAN POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistive Technology District Technician will work directly with the District Assistive Technology Specialist to provide technical support in the implementation, support, and maintenance of Assistive Technology devices for students and special education staff of the New Canaan Public Schools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Respond in a timely manner, to work requests for Special Education hardware/software troubleshooting, maintenance or repair work. 2. Communicate regularly with District Assistive Technology Specialist regarding needs related to Special Education and Assistive Technology end-users. 3. Work closely with District Assistive Technology Specialist to understand software/hardware application and maintenance needs. 4. Identify solutions to Special Education user problems. 5. Test all hardware changes and software modifications. 6. Provide the Technology Service Manager with regular reports documenting hardware repairs and changes, and ongoing projects. 7. Adhere to all copyright laws and licensing agreements when installing software. 8. Maintain standards/procedures for implementation of Assistive Technology
QUALIFICATIONS
1. College Degree preferred. 2. Service-oriented with interpersonal skills capable of establishing positive and productive working relationships with Special Education end-users. 3. Time management skills to manage multiple projects and assignments. 4. Analytical and problem solving skills for identifying and resolving hardware and/or application-related technology issues. 5. Up-to-date working knowledge of Windows 11, MAC OS, and iOS. 6. Understanding of network concepts, protocols, and connectivity settings. 7. Understanding the general concepts surrounding computer imaging and software deployment.
RESPONSIBLE TO
The District Technician serves under the direction of the Manager of Technology Services and performs work daily alongside the Assistive Technology Specialist.
Work year:
12 month position District Technician Union Position\ Approximately $64,470 annually per UPSEU contract on the district website.
