Job Description:
Jefferson Community College, part of the State University of New York (SUNY), is currently conducting a search for a full-time Network Manager. The Network Manager is responsible for ensuring that the College network functions with appropriate capacity, reliability and security to meet the College's voice, video and data communications requirements. The Network Manager maintains highly complex equipment, establishes and maintains procedures to ensure high availability/failover, and the security and reliability of networking hardware and network operating software. Professional staff are expected to advance the College's focus on student success and completion and will work closely with the College's leadership to advance the mission of the Strategic Plan, which may be reviewed by clicking on the link below.
MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Installs and maintains all network hardware (hubs, switches, routers, firewalls, backup devices concentrators, etc.) and network software related to the campus wide network. Responsible for the installation and maintenance of all network operating systems. Installs and troubleshoots all voice and data cabling such as fiber optic cabling, twisted pair, and coaxial cable. Directs technical staff resolving helpdesk calls Work with the College's CISO in investigating network intrusion and hacking incidents, collecting incident responses, and carrying out forensic investigations including log analysis. Assists in maintaining the campus telephone system including the PBX, cabling, and voice mail. Assists with the installation of networked software applications. Maintains remote connectivity to campus network services and applications including connections to remote offices (Ft Drum, Lowville, ETC.). Researches, recommends, and advances new and future network technologies. Establishes and documents network procedures based on industry best practices. Establishes short and long-term planning goals for network applications. Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge in the areas of computer/network technology and maintenance, information systems management, project management, etc. Knowledge of data processing systems, concepts, and methodologies. Knowledge of local and wide area networks. Skill in written and verbal communication. Skill in directing employees in a data processing environment. Ability to analyze prioritizes, organize, and solve problems. Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.

Bachelor's degree and six (6) years appropriate professional experience OR Master's degree Experience and four (4) years appropriate professional experience Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally under-represented in higher education.
Additional Information:
Job Description Strategic Plan $52,240 - $73,000/year - Compensation will be aligned with the selected candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications as well as internal equity and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. This is a 35-hour-per-week position. The College offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, vision, and dental insurance, long-term disability, generous leave policies, paid holidays, pre-tax flexible spending accounts, tax-deferred Compensation, NYS retirement, as well as employee and dependent tuition waivers. Employment with the College may qualify eligible employees for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), subject to program requirements.
