Job description: Primary role: Engage with technical and product teams in a mature Agile environment to facilitate effective Scrum practices and support consistent delivery of high-quality client outcomes. The Scrum Master will facilitate Agile ceremonies, proactively identify and drive resolution of impediments, support team accountability and continuous improvement, and provide visibility into sprint health, delivery risks, dependencies, and capacity. The Scrum Master will partner closely with Product Owners, development, QA, and Federal stakeholders while maintaining clear ownership boundaries between Scrum facilitation, product prioritization, and technical delivery. This hybrid-role requires a minimum of 2 days a week in the IvoryCloud office in Rockville, MD, and periodically in Washington, DC, at the client site.

This Role:
The successful Scrum Master creates an environment in which delivery issues are identified early, ownership is clear, impediments are actively driven to resolution, sprint commitments are realistic and visible, and program leadership does not need to manage routine Scrum execution. The Scrum Master is expected to anticipate delivery concerns, facilitate resolution, and escalate appropriately rather than wait for direction.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including Daily Stand-Ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews/Demos, Retrospectives, and backlog refinement activities. Partner with Product Owners to support backlog readiness, refinement, and effective sprint planning while maintaining Product Owner accountability for prioritization. Proactively identify, track, and drive resolution of impediments, dependencies, delivery risks, and team capacity concerns. Escalate blockers and delivery risks in a timely manner when resolution requires leadership, client, or cross-team intervention. Monitor and communicate sprint health, including progress against sprint commitments, carryover, blockers, dependencies, and delivery risks. Promote team accountability for sprint commitments and facilitate conversations necessary to address delivery challenges. Coordinate across Product, Development, QA, and other delivery stakeholders to support alignment and successful execution. Maintain accurate Agile delivery information and ensure appropriate JIRA hygiene, including sprint, story, dependency, and impediment tracking. Facilitate retrospectives and drive measurable continuous-improvement actions through completion. Coach team members on Agile and Scrum practices and reinforce consistent adoption of agreed delivery processes. Support delivery planning by helping the team understand capacity, dependencies, and realistic sprint commitments. Identify trends affecting team performance and work collaboratively with delivery leadership to address systemic issues. Support client-facing Agile discussions and communicate delivery status, risks, impediments, and dependencies clearly and professionally. Work autonomously in a rapidly changing environment while maintaining appropriate communication and escalation with program leadership. Experience 5-7 years of experience serving as a Scrum Master in Agile software development environments. Strong understanding and practical application of Agile and Scrum principles and practices. Demonstrated experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and supporting cross-functional Agile teams. Experience proactively identifying and resolving impediments, dependencies, delivery risks, and team capacity concerns. Experience using JIRA or comparable Agile delivery-management tools. Experience working closely with Product Owners, Product Managers, Development, and QA teams. Experience supporting delivery metrics, sprint health reporting, and continuous improvement. Strong facilitation, communication, conflict-resolution, and stakeholder-management skills. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and take ownership in a rapidly changing environment. Experience supporting Federal Government clients strongly preferred. Grants Management experience preferred. Experience supporting or participating in Agile transformation initiatives preferred. Education B.S. in Business/Technology related field
