7+ Years Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Node.js Developer to join our development team in Menlo Park, CA. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, backend application development, and RESTful API design. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance server-side applications and APIs. This role requires close collaboration with frontend developers, product managers, designers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Node.js. Build, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services. Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and efficient JavaScript/TypeScript code. Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis. Implement authentication, authorization, and data security best practices. Integrate third-party APIs and external services. Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless application integration. Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues. Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and responsiveness. Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical design decisions. Maintain technical documentation and follow established development standards. Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and release processes. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and backend development best practices. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 7+ years of professional experience in backend software development. Strong proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript and/or TypeScript. Hands-on experience with backend frameworks such as Express.js, NestJS, or Fastify. Strong understanding of RESTful API design, API integration, and backend architecture. Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases. Proficiency with Git and collaborative software development workflows. Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and performance optimization. Experience developing automated tests using Jest, Mocha, or similar testing frameworks. Understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing and developing microservices-based applications. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform). Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of message brokers and event-streaming technologies such as RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, or AWS SQS. Experience with CI/CD tools, deployment automation, and release management. Understanding of application security, OAuth, JWT, and secure API development. Experience with application monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting tools. Familiarity with serverless architectures and technologies. Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio.
