Full Job Description Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Applications, the Application Developer plays key role as a strategic business partner responsible for overall direction, enhancement of, and execution of technical tasks (build, configuration, support) for supported applications. In this role, they will be providing end‑to‑end operational coverage across our platforms, including user support, ticket resolution, system troubleshooting, platform enhancements, implementations and day‑to‑day maintenance.
Qualifications:
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems or demonstrated industry hands-on experience
  • Evidence of continuing education, such as certifications, is a plus
  • Some experience in all phases of the development lifecycle is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to foresee possible issues and troubleshoot them proactively
  • Knowledge of relevant programming languages (Artiva, .NET, JavaScript, PostgreSQL, Github, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or supporting applications built with Ruby on Rails is preferred; familiarity with Ruby, Rails conventions, and MVC architecture is a plus.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, prioritizing and organizing these tasks to maximize productivity.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
  • Ensure the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions.
  • See that all reported issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
  • Work with Project Management Office to report progress on relevant tasks.
  • Understand client/business requirements and how they translate into application features
  • Collaborate with team to set specifications and gather requirements for product enhancements.
  • Stay current with latest product release information. In addition to staying up to date on how to utilize new features.
  • Write high quality source code to program complete applications within deadlines
  • Perform unit and integration testing before launch
  • Conduct functional and non-functional testing
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications
  • Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance Ruby on Rails applications, including reviewing application code, investigating defects, and implementing approved changes.
  • Support Rails application quality through appropriate automated testing and, where applicable, database changes and version-controlled deployments.
  • Perform application upgrade. This includes planning, testing, and loading the new releases.
  • Evaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new features
  • Develop technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent application design and code.
  • Attend meetings, where necessary, to understand requirements of an assigned task.
  • Provide secondary assistance to Technical Support Specialists on overflow tickets.
  • Mentor and train Technical Support Specialists (Helpdesk) in application knowledge and methodology.

Physical and Sensory Demands:
This position requires prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer and using a telephone or headset. Frequent hand and finger use is required for typing, navigating systems, and handling office tools or equipment.

Work will be performed on-site in an office or call center setting: Professional indoor workspace with controlled temperature and consistent lighting Standard office equipment and ergonomic furniture Moderate noise levels typical of a call center or shared office setting Close proximity to others, background phone conversations, and regular in-person collaboration
