Back Senior Software Engineer Software Engineering O'Fallon , Missouri Contract Oct 1, 2026 Title Senior Software Development Engineer - Data Platforms Location Arlington, Virginia 12-month contract engagement Overview This role supports a leading global financial technology and payments organization building enterprise-scale data and analytics platforms. The Senior Software Development Engineer will design and develop secure, scalable solutions that enable data onboarding, exchange, discovery, and consumption across product, analytics, and consulting teams. The position combines full-stack engineering, distributed data processing, cloud technologies, and enterprise platform development in a highly collaborative global environment. Must-Have Domains Enterprise Data Platforms & Data-Intensive Applications Distributed Systems & Enterprise Integration Full-Stack Software Engineering & Cloud-Native Architecture Core Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms, distributed systems, and enterprise integration solutions across cloud and on-premises environments. Develop and optimize data-intensive applications using Databricks, Spark, and related technologies for efficient data processing, transformation, and delivery. Build reusable capabilities supporting enterprise data onboarding, secure exchange, discovery, access, and consumption. Contribute to architecture, system design, API development, code reviews, testing, performance optimization, and engineering best practices. Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Governance, Security, and business stakeholders while mentoring team members and supporting operational excellence. Must-Have Experience Full-stack software engineering experience developing modern enterprise applications and reusable platforms serving multiple products, teams, or business domains. Experience building large-scale data platforms, distributed systems, and integration solutions across cloud and on-premises environments. Experience developing data-intensive systems with a focus on scalability, performance, reliability, API design, and enterprise-grade software engineering practices. Top 5 Must-Have Technical Skills Java & Spring Boot TypeScript & React Databricks & Apache Spark Distributed Data Technologies, including Kafka, Flink, NiFi, and Hadoop/Cloudera Cloud-Native Data Platforms, APIs & Scalable System Design Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Skills Experience integrating AI-driven capabilities into enterprise data platforms with appropriate governance and technical guardrails. Exposure to emerging AI use cases, including agentic commerce. Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, API design, and scalable software architecture.
