POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Application Engineer - Bare Wire provides technical application support and develops business for Elektrisola's bare and plated wire products used as cable conductors and cable shielding. Customers are primarily high-speed cable manufacturers, although the company serves cable applications across a broad range of industries. Reporting to the VP Sales & Marketing, this role connects customers' cable designs, specifications, and manufacturing requirements with Elektrisola's wire products and capabilities. The successful candidate brings at least five years of direct cable-industry experience from a background such as field applications, technical sales, cable design or engineering, quality, process engineering, or manufacturing. The position is based in the Boscawen office and works closely with the Sales Manager - Bare Wire and Customer Service Representatives as well as technical and production staff within Operations. This position requires approximately 15% - 20% travel, primarily within North America, with occasional international travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build trusted technical relationships with engineering, design, quality, sourcing, and manufacturing contacts at assigned and prospective customers, especially high-speed data cable manufacturers.
• Learn customer cable constructions and translate application needs into clear wire requirements for conductors and shielding, including material, diameter, plating, mechanical and electrical properties, surface condition, packaging, and process compatibility.
• Review customer drawings, specifications, standards, and test requirements; identify open questions, critical characteristics, and gaps between cable requirements and proposed wire solutions.
• Recommend suitable wire products and coordinate with the Sales Manager - Bare Wire and other sales colleagues on product selection, feasibility, samples, quotations, and opportunity development.
• Support customer trials and cable qualification from planning through follow-up, including sample coordination, technical communication, documentation, and review of results.
• Identify unmet needs, product-development opportunities, and changing requirements across cable markets; share customer, market, and competitor feedback.
• Develop qualified business opportunities and support account plans by connecting customer technical needs with Elektrisola's product capabilities and commercial offering.
• Represent Elektrisola at customer visits, technical meetings, trade shows, and industry events.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• At least five years of direct experience in the cable industry, including cable products, cable manufacturing, or customer cable requirements.
• Relevant experience in a field application, technical sales, cable engineering or design, quality, process engineering, or manufacturing role; candidates from these backgrounds will be considered based on their ability to build credible technical relationships.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, product specifications, and test requirements and discuss them clearly with customer and internal technical teams.
• Strong customer communication, listening, problem-solving, organization, and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel primarily within North America, with occasional international travel; valid driver's license required.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High-speed data cable experience, including familiarity with cable constructions such as coaxial, twinaxial, or other high-speed designs and their conductor and shielding requirements.
• Understanding of cable performance considerations such as impedance, attenuation or insertion loss, shielding effectiveness, and signal integrity, and how conductor and shielding materials or dimensions can affect performance.
• Experience supporting customer trials, qualification, corrective action, or new product introduction.
• Experience with AS9100 quality systems, aerospace or defense customer requirements, and/or NAVAIR Qualified Products List (QPL) processes.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, materials, or manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field preferred.

Extensive relevant cable industry experience will also be considered.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

• Develop a strong working knowledge of Elektrisola's wire products, capabilities, and internal processes.
• Build successful technical relationships with key customers and develop an informed understanding of the cable industry and its requirements.
• Capture customer requirements accurately and translate them into actionable wire specifications, trials, and internal work.
• Educate Elektrisola's sales, customer service, technical, and production teams on important requirements from the cable manufacturer's perspective.
• Develop qualified cable-wire opportunities and help convert customer applications into recurring revenue.

Pay:

$115,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
