Our organization currently utilizes customized Microsoft Access databases to manage critical business functions, including employee timekeeping, job costing, equipment tracking, operational reporting, and accounting-related processes. These systems have been developed specifically around our business operations and provide a strong foundation for continued improvement. The primary objective of this position will be to transition and expand these systems into modern, cloud-based applications utilizing Microsoft Power Platform and related technologies. A major emphasis will be placed on developing user-friendly applications accessible through smartphones, tablets, and computers, allowing field personnel to easily enter and retrieve information while providing management with accurate, centralized data. The successful candidate will work directly with company leadership and operational personnel to understand business requirements, develop practical solutions, test functionality, and implement improvements. This is a hands-on development position with the opportunity to grow into broader responsibility for the organization's business systems and IT operations. Key Responsibilities Software Development & Database Modernization
  • Evaluate existing Microsoft Access databases, applications, workflows, and reporting processes.
  • Design and develop cloud-based business applications using Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and related technologies.
  • Migrate and modernize existing database functionality while preserving established business logic and historical information.
  • Develop intuitive applications for use by field personnel on iPhones, Android devices, tablets, and computers.
  • Implement reliable data collection and synchronization capabilities for field environments with limited internet connectivity.
  • Design, maintain, and optimize relational databases, application integrations, and automated workflows.
  • Develop reporting tools and management dashboards using Power BI or comparable technologies. Business Process Automation & Systems Integration
  • Develop and maintain integrations with QuickBooks Desktop, ADP payroll systems, and other business applications.
  • Automate employee timekeeping, payroll preparation, approval workflows, and job-cost allocation processes.
  • Develop applications supporting equipment management, inventory, material tracking, and project operations.
  • Create electronic safety forms, job safety analyses (JSAs), inspections, and compliance reporting processes.
  • Support the development of fabrication production tracking, field productivity reporting, and project cost management systems.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate duplicate data entry, improve accuracy, and streamline administrative processes. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work directly with executive management, accounting, operations, project managers, and field personnel to identify technology needs.
  • Translate operational requirements into practical software solutions.
  • Manage application development from initial concept through testing, implementation, and ongoing support.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to employees utilizing developed applications.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation, system security, data integrity, and backup procedures.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend technology improvements that support business growth and operational efficiency. Long-Term IT & Systems Management As the initial software modernization initiatives are completed, this position is expected to expand into broader technology responsibilities, including:
  • Administration and optimization of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and related business applications.
  • Oversight and coordination of external IT service providers and technology vendors.
  • Management of application access, system integrations, and technology-related support needs.
  • Evaluation and implementation of new software solutions.
  • Continued development, maintenance, and enhancement of internal business applications.
  • Support for company-wide technology planning, standardization, and system reliability. Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated professional experience developing and implementing custom business software applications.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse.
  • Proficiency in relational database design, SQL, and data management.
  • Experience integrating applications with accounting, payroll, or enterprise business systems.
  • Ability to independently manage software development projects from requirements gathering through deployment.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with nontechnical personnel and translate business needs into functional applications.
  • Experience developing applications that are reliable, secure, scalable, and easy to use.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Access, VBA, and legacy database modernization.
  • Experience integrating with QuickBooks Desktop, including the QuickBooks Desktop SDK or Web Connector.
  • Experience with ADP payroll systems and payroll data integrations.
  • Experience developing mobile applications with offline functionality.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, SharePoint, Power BI, and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Experience with construction, industrial services, manufacturing, equipment management, or job-cost accounting systems.
  • Experience managing business applications, IT infrastructure vendors, or internal technology operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
Ideal Candidate We are seeking an individual who combines strong technical capabilities with practical business understanding. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with business executives and operational teams, understanding how processes work, and developing customized software solutions that make those processes more efficient. This individual should be comfortable taking ownership of projects, working independently, solving problems, and continuously improving existing systems. We value demonstrated experience, initiative, accountability, and the ability to deliver functional solutions over formal credentials alone. What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
  • Full-time, long-term career opportunity.
  • Direct involvement with company leadership and operational decision-makers.
  • Opportunity to design and develop business-critical applications from the ground up.
  • Significant autonomy and ownership of software development initiatives.
  • Exposure to multiple industries and operating companies.
  • Opportunity for professional growth into broader business systems and IT management responsibilities.
  • A collaborative environment focused on practical solutions, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Work Location This position is intended to be based at Xeter Corporation's corporate office in Tyler, Texas. On-site employment is strongly preferred to facilitate direct collaboration with company leadership, accounting, operations, and field personnel. Alternative arrangements may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates, provided they can maintain regular in-person involvement at the Tyler office and other company locations as needed. How to Apply Interested candidates should submit a resume highlighting relevant software development experience, particularly with Microsoft Power Platform, database modernization, and business application integrations. Applicants are encouraged to provide examples of custom applications or business systems they have developed and describe their involvement in the design, implementation, and ongoing support of those systems.
