Opus' technologies and services help our state partners meet strict US EPA Clean Air regulations by managing vehicle inspection programs, Vehicle Information Databases, and developing differentiated solutions for remote vehicle monitoring. Job Summary This position is based out of Tucson, AZ, but will remotely manage a small team of Software Engineers based throughout the U.S. This position offers fully remote capabilities within the U.S. We are welcoming local and remote applicants. This individual's principal objective is to contribute to development projects and customer support efforts by directly managing a group of developers and personally developing software applications as directed by the department manager. Tasks may include mentoring members of the group, supporting each to the best possible outcome of the employee and the company. This person will, as necessary, also support requirements definition, participate in software design, development and review, including complete unit and integration testing. This position will be tasked with ensuring developers work in a team environment, follow company-approved policies and procedures, and participate in project and group planning and review sessions. The Software Development Group Manager works under guidance from the Manager of Software Development. Duties & Responsibilities Actively manage group members by assigning tasks, mentoring to ensure expected performance, and directing developers to be used in the most efficient manner possible Actively participate in software design reviews with development team and technical leads Generate considerable content to functional design specifications Generate accurate task breakdown and estimates Utilize configuration management and debugging tools Responsible for verification activities, which include system test, durability, and life-tests Create and update design and operational documentation Actively participate in the integration and installation of deliverables Report on progress and status of development to senior management Provide follow-on support and problem troubleshooting Other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
Requirements Successful background in developing software for company's web-based or thick client applications Proven ability to assist in defining requirements and creating software design. Desire to take on additional responsibility by managing performance of groups of developers Proven software development skills with emphasis on: WinForms, Web API, WebForms, SOAP, MVC, SPA Frameworks, RESTful services, etc. Should be proficient in using the following: C#/VB .NET, JavaScript GIT, Visual SourceSafe DevOps

Ability to effectively analyze, prioritize and resolve software engineering problems Ability to follow schedules and produce a quality product.
