LRS Consulting Services is seeking an Automated QA Engineer / Software Engineer III for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with our client in Central Illinois. As an Automated QA Engineer / Software Engineer III, you will: Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks and solutions across testing, operational workflows, and business processes. Establish requirements, evaluate, and recommend test automation tools and technologies. Serve as a technical subject matter expert for automation solutions supporting business-critical applications and processes. Lead automation development efforts across the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, support, and optimization. Define processes, standards, and best practices for implementing automation across the organization. Build and maintain automation solutions for UI, API, integration, regression, data validation, and business process workflows. Create automated tests for functional, regression, integration, and GUI validation of enterprise applications. Evaluate and implement modern automation tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve quality, reliability, and operational efficiency. Perform system, integration, functional, data validation, and performance testing while supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Utilize test management tools to document test plans, track results, and report defects. Contribute to automation strategy, engineering standards, best practices, and technology roadmaps. Partner with business stakeholders, QA teams, developers, and operations teams to identify automation opportunities. Troubleshoot complex technical issues across applications, frameworks, and automation platforms. Investigate and evaluate emerging testing technologies and products for potential adoption. Recommend improvements to solution reliability, performance, and quality assurance processes. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers. Promote a culture of ownership, innovation, continuous improvement, and quality engineering excellence.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 5+ years of professional experience in software development, automation engineering, software testing, or application development. 6+ years of software test automation experience preferred. 3+ years of experience working with complex enterprise systems, architectures, or application environments. QA professional certification such as ISTQB or QAI preferred. Advanced knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles and project lifecycle methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall. Strong understanding of quality assurance processes, software testing methodologies, and automation engineering principles. Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automation frameworks. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to lead initiatives, influence technical direction, and mentor technical team members. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Required Technical Skills:
Selenium with Java Cucumber BDD Cypress Micro Focus UFT TestNG / JUnit Git Maven Eclipse and/or Intelli
J IDEA CI/CD
pipelines and DevOps practices API testing and automation Source control and modern software engineering practices
Preferred Technical Skills:
Development experience with one or more programming languages including Java, JavaScript, or C# Experience with Guidewire Testing Framework Experience testing Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, or ClaimCenter applications Experience building automation solutions for testing, operational workflows, and business process automation Familiarity with workflow orchestration platforms and RPA technologies Experience with system integrations and enterprise application architectures Experience within insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated environments

Corp-to-corp candidates will not be considered. The base range for this contract position is $40.00 - $55.00 per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
