Role Overview:

The Technical Specialist - Automation (Power Innovation Commissioning) leads commissioning, startup, and ongoing operations for energy infrastructure projects. The role requires advanced automation expertise, a safety-first approach, and collaboration across Engineering, Construction, Operations, and OEMs to ensure reliable, efficient performance. ​

Key Responsibilities:

​Demonstrate advanced technical expertise in automation systems supporting commissioning, startup, and operations for power and energy infrastructure (e.g., BESS, substations, generation assets). ​Support development and execution of commissioning plans, procedures, and automation test protocols. ​Coordinate FAT/SAT activities, systemization, and punch-list closure while managing costs and field resources. ​Provide field troubleshooting and real-time support for PLC/DCS/HMI-related issues during energization and startup. ​Serve as a technical lead and custodian for commissioning-related automation standards, control system configurations, logic validation, and SCADA integration. ​Prepare and deliver technical briefings, commissioning readiness reviews, and post-event summaries to project leadership. ​Support cybersecurity initiatives, control system patching, and hardware lifecycle activities during commissioning and transition. ​Maintain strong working knowledge of industry standards (NFPA 70E, IEEE, NERC) and ensure strict compliance. ​Drive continuous improvement across commissioning processes and contribute lessons learned to the Approved Manufacturer List (AML). ​

Requirements & Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma / GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred. ​

Experience:

Minimum eight (8) years of progressive experience in power generation, energy infrastructure, commissioning, or industrial automation. ​

Technical Skills:

Solid understanding of PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, and communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850). Advanced knowledge of enterprise automation systems (e.g., AssetCentre). ​

Languages:

English (Required). ​

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts in extreme temperatures, loud environments, and confined spaces. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk/climb for extended periods, and work at elevated levels using PPE.

Pay:

$36.90 - $37.00 per hour
