The Systems Analyst supports Alma College's enterprise information systems (EIS), databases, reporting platforms, and data integrations. Working in collaboration with campus departments, vendors, and ITS staff, this position analyzes, improves, and helps modernize business processes, develops technical solutions, supports data-driven decision making, participates in enterprise systems and database administration activities, and helps ensure the effective operation, security, and long-term sustainability of the College's administrative systems.
Supervision Received:
This position reports to the Director of Web Development and has no supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Enterprise Systems & Application Support Support the administration, maintenance, enhancement, and operation of enterprise applications including ERP, CRM, workflow management, reporting, and auxiliary systems. Assist with system implementations, upgrades, testing, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination. Develop, maintain, and support data integrations and information exchanges between institutional systems and third-party applications. Database Administration & Reporting Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, reports, dashboards, data extracts, and other reporting solutions that support departmental and institutional needs. Assist with database administration activities including performance monitoring, maintenance, security, data validation, and troubleshooting. Serve as an ITS representative for college-wide data governance, stewardship, reporting, and data quality initiatives. Analyze and interpret data to support informed business decision-making and operational effectiveness. Business Process Improvement & Department Collaboration Collaborate with departments, vendors, and ITS staff to build productive working relationships and deliver innovative process improvements based on an understanding of college business objectives. Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions through process redesign, automation, data integration, and system enhancements. Develop and maintain expertise in Alma College's core administrative systems while supporting user training, change management, documentation, communication, and knowledge-sharing efforts related to enterprise technologies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or related discipline Two years of professional experience supporting business systems, enterprise applications, databases, reporting, or related technologies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficiency in writing and troubleshooting SQL queries Ability to analyze business processes and identify opportunities for improvement Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to document technical and business processes clearly Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences Ability to learn complex enterprise software systems and institutional business processes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in higher education. Experience with Ellucian Colleague. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server. Experience supporting ERP, CRM, SIS, HR, Finance, or other enterprise systems. Experience with system integrations, APIs, and data exchanges. Experience with reporting, analytics, and document management systems. Experience with project coordination or project management methodologies. Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, Pell-eligible, and diverse populations.
