Summary Under general supervision this position performs highly specialized, professional and technical work, dedicated support to the City of Somerton Police Department and Somerton Cocopah Fire Department for public safety operations. This position ensures the reliability, security, and continuous availability of public safety technology systems, including Computer Assisted Dispatching (CAD), Records Management System (RMS), Public Safety software, Mobile Data Computers (MDC), servers, networks, and desktop environments. The position ensures compliance with Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) and state requirements while supporting officers, dispatchers, firefighters and administrative staff in time-sensitive and safety-critical environments. This position is under the City of Somerton's Information Technology Division. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Public Safety Systems Support Administer, support, and maintain CAD, RMS, YRCS, dispatch, and related public safety systems. Serve as the primary IT liaison for YRCS, public safety vendors, and regional/state partners. Ensure system availability during critical incidents and emergency operations. Provide reports or stats using current software by fire department. Server, Network, and Infrastructure Management Maintain and monitor public safety servers, including application, database, and file servers. Perform system patching, updates, upgrades, and configuration management for servers, desktops, mobile devices, and public safety software. Support secure network connectivity for public safety systems, including VPNs and remote access. Assist with disaster recovery planning, backups, and continuity of operations. Installs, maintains/repairs, programs, and tests Telecom equipment, surveillance equipment, antennas, and peripherals. Implement, maintain and manage security solutions such as intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), anti-virus, and endpoint protection. Authorizes system access to users and vendors and maintains necessary documentation of access assigned. Coordinates and administers City telephone, equipment, and maintenance agreements. CJIS Compliance and Security Maintain compliance with CJIS security policies, including access control, auditing, encryption, and user account management. Coordinate and document CJIS audits, security controls, and system access reviews. Implement cybersecurity best practices for public safety environments. Serve as Police Department LASO (Local Agency Security Officer). Responsible for NCIC technical audit every three years and assist System Security Officer (SSO), with Agency NCIC audit. Desktop, MDC, and End-User Support Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, tablets, laptops, MDCs, printers, and peripheral devices. Interact with vendor technical support. Support mobile technology used in patrol vehicles, including MDC hardware, software, and connectivity. Provide direct technical support to sworn officers, firefighters, dispatchers, records staff, and command staff. Manages IT service request queue and ensures all IT service requests are resolved in a timely manner. Software and Application Management Manage licensing, updates, and version control for public safety applications. Test and deploy system updates and patches with minimal operational disruption. Coordinate with vendors for system maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancements. Operational Support and On-Call Response Provide on-call or after-hours support for critical public safety systems as required. Respond to system outages or failures that impact police, fire, medical, dispatch, or emergency operations. Support technology needs during special operations, emergencies, or major incidents. Documentation and Asset Management Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, procedures, and recovery plans. Develop and maintain operational documentation such as standard operating procedures, as-built diagrams, and reference materials for supported systems. Track public safety IT assets, warranties, and replacement schedules. Assist with technology planning, budgeting, and lifecycle management. Researches, recommends, specifies and obtains quotes for enterprise technology solutions form authorized vendors under the supervision of IT management. Coordination and Communication Work under the direction of the IT Department to ensure compatibility with citywide systems while prioritizing public safety needs. Participate in assigned technology projects by executing tasks, meeting established timelines, and providing status updates to project leads. Advise command staff on technology risks, improvements, and future needs. Assist with technology procurement, testing, and implementation. Perform other duties as assigned. Supports the relationship between the City and the public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and City staff; promotes the City goals and priorities and complies with all City policies and procedures. Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred 3 years of IT experience with direct support of public safety or mission-critical systems, experience supporting servers, networks, desktop environments, and mobile devices, system patching, updates, backups, and disaster recovery. This position requires emergency response and after-hour support. An extensive background and polygraph check is required. Experience supporting CAD/RMS, dispatch systems, YRCS, or other criminal justice systems is preferred. Knowledge of law enforcement operational environments is preferred. This position will work with Public Safety and requires an extensive background check.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS A
