Job Description

About This Role The Senior Computer/Systems Specialist will provide IT services and technical support to the College of Arts and Sciences. The position will be responsible for managing the College's IT needs and providing technical support to departments, including diagnosing and resolving software, hardware, and network-related issues. The employee will configure, troubleshoot, debug, and test systems and equipment and develop processes to maintain and improve system usability and reliability. Succeed Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and three years of relevant experience.
Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience supporting, configuring, and maintaining computers, workstations, endpoints, and related IT systems in a higher education, enterprise, or similar environment.
  • Experience with endpoint management, computer deployment, imaging, configuration, software installation, patching, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience using Microsoft Intune and Active Directory, including user and group management, device management, policies, permissions, and endpoint configuration.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems and common productivity, administrative, and specialized software applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, operating systems, software, network connectivity, peripherals, and other end-user computing issues.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, wireless connectivity, network authentication, and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with security practices related to endpoint management, access control, authentication, software updates, and protection of institutional data and systems.
  • Experience with ticketing systems, inventory and asset management, technical documentation, knowledge bases, and other IT service management tools.
  • Experience supporting users with varying levels of technical knowledge and providing clear, professional, and customer-focused technical assistance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, troubleshooting, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing requests, and collaborate effectively with IT staff, faculty, staff, vendors, and campus partners.
  • Ability to document technical procedures, solutions, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to support consistent and sustainable IT operations.
