And do you love puzzles and challenges, like the kind you get in an escape room? EscapeWorks Denver, Colorado's highest rated escape room, has an exciting job opening for someone like you! We are hiring a part time facility, puzzle, and game technician to our games and operate them for customers. Learn how one of the most popular escape rooms in the country works, and have a chance to help make it even better! This job is perfect for someone with experience in set, stage, and prop design, mechanical sets, and an extensive knowledge of electronics.
JOB DUTIES
Maintain and upgrade puzzles and props as needed. Periodically check and modify sound balance and audio levels in games. Ensure that visual, lighting and video elements are properly aimed, focused, and tuned. Facilitate a memorable customer experience by guiding guests through rooms and ensuring that their experience exceeds expectations. Ensure that rooms are properly cleaned and reset between games. Maintain data and notes on puzzle performance and maintain as needed. Perform room construction and renovations as new blueprints are designed (1-2 times per year) Work behind the scenes to ensure that all the technical, visual, and audio aspects of games are operating smoothly. Work as part of a growing team to help EscapeWorks expand as a brand.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Technical experience. This job involves working with electronic components and other mechanical elements. We are looking for someone who is able to handle room repairs, maintenance, and renovations under management's direction, often unsupervised and with little direct guidance. Effective communication. Our brand's strongest asset is the people running our rooms. We want to ensure that all customer experiences are friendly, intuitive, and accommodating. Attention to detail. Proper room resets require a sharp eye and a deep understanding for how players will interact with the puzzles. The ability to see projects from blueprint to completion. Escape room installation requires an eye for detail and ability to work on complex, interwoven mechanical elements. We are looking for candidates with the technical experience to see these projects through. An eye for maintaining complex systems. We like to address potential issues with rooms long before they have a chance to turn into full problems. As such, we're looking for an employee who can learn these games intimately enough to recognize and address potential mechanical issues before they reach customers. Mobility. This job involves lifting objects, getting quickly from room-to-room, and assisting with potential prop maintenance. We ask that applicants be physically able to handle these responsibilities. Ability to think on your feet. We get busy at times, and need our employees to identify and solve potential problems before they impact players. Ability to learn quickly. There's a lot to learn in this industry and our games are always evolving. We value people that can pick up our process quickly and learn on the job. Professional punctuality. We need everybody to be on time to ensure that our schedules run smoothly.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
Extensive electronics experience. In particular, experience with arduino, ESP32, raspberry pi, or similar technologies and other DIY electronic projects (such as robotics, home automation, etc). A passion for storytelling. Escape rooms offer customers a chance to go on all sorts of adventures. We're looking for people who are just as excited about these games as the players are. Previous experience in an interactive medium. While this is not required, we're always looking for people who have worked in haunted houses, theatre projects, or other mediums that place the customer inside the story. A strong work ethic. This industry is constantly evolving, and staying ahead of the curve means putting in the work. We're always looking for people who pride themselves in going above and beyond expectations.
HOURS:
This position will begin with approximately 20-30 hours per week. You will be expected to work at least one weekend day nearly every week. Candidates who prefer to work weekends are encouraged. This job is flexible around classes and other commitments. The technical aspects of this job occur on an as-needed basis, but there's always work to do. Technicians should expect significant hourly commitments around new room installations. Ability to be on call during some shifts is a must!
Work Remotely No Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
