at Robert Half in Wheeling, Illinois, United States Job Description Description We are looking for a Back End Developer to join a collaborative technology team in Wheeling, Illinois. This role focuses on building and maintaining reliable server-side solutions that support business applications and improve overall system performance. The ideal candidate brings strong development fundamentals, works well across teams, and can contribute to scalable web-based platforms in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend services that support web applications and internal platforms
• Develop efficient server-side logic and integrate application functionality with databases and external services
• Partner with front-end developers to ensure smooth communication between user interfaces and backend systems
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to support quality and consistency
• Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes
• Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability across backend components and APIs
• Contribute to technical planning, documentation, and ongoing improvements to development practices Requirements
• Experience developing web applications with strong proficiency in JavaScript
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS in support of full-stack collaboration
• Familiarity with React.js and modern front-end frameworks
• Understanding of backend development principles, including API design and server-side architecture
• Ability to write organized, testable, and maintainable code
