In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for safely operating various types of vehicles, including school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vans, to transport passengers efficiently and securely. Your primary goal is to ensure the safe arrival and departure of passengers while providing excellent customer service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to community mobility, assist vulnerable populations such as children and seniors, and promote transportation safety standards. A strong focus on safety, communication, and adherence to traffic laws will be essential for success in this energetic role. Duties Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and wheelchair-accessible vans in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies Transport passengers—including students, seniors, or individuals with disabilities—while ensuring their safety and comfort at all times Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, providing wheelchair assistance or other support as needed Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including first aid and CPR when required Maintain accurate logs of trips, passenger counts, and vehicle inspections in compliance with transportation safety regulations Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety issues Communicate effectively with dispatchers, passengers, and team members using clear English or multilingual skills to manage quick responses to traffic changes or emergencies Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport (e.g., P endorsement for passenger vehicles) Proven experience driving buses or paratransit vehicles; school bus driving experience is highly preferred Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at the state and local levels Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling equipment safely Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities Familiarity with emergency stop procedures, defensive driving techniques, and behavior management strategies Experience working with children or seniors is desirable; patience and excellent customer service skills are essential Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected situations while maintaining a calm demeanor Knowledge of school policies related to student discipline and passenger safety protocols Join our team as a CDL Driver and play a vital role in ensuring safe, reliable transportation for our community!
