2992015308-2 Apply for this job now Job Description The YMCA is seeking a responsible Preschool Driver to safely transport young children to and from YMCA preschool programs and related activities. In this mission-driven, community-focused role, you will ensure each child's safety by following all traffic laws, YMCA policies, and child passenger regulations. Responsibilities include conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, securing children in appropriate restraints, maintaining accurate route and attendance records, and communicating clearly with staff and families. You'll model YMCA values and help create a welcoming, inclusive experience for every child in your care. Responsibilities Safely operate YMCA vehicles to transport preschool-aged children to and from program sites, field trips, and activities Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance or safety concerns Ensure children are properly secured in car seats or restraints and follow all YMCA and state safety regulations Maintain accurate attendance, route, and mileage records in accordance with YMCA policies Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, and staff regarding schedules, delays, and concerns Support a positive, inclusive environment by modeling YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility Follow emergency procedures and respond calmly to incidents, reporting issues to supervisors as required Assist children with boarding and exiting vehicles, providing extra support for those needing assistance Required Skills Safe driving and defensive driving techniques Vehicle inspection and basic maintenance checks Child passenger safety and use of car seats/restraints Route planning and time management Recordkeeping and documentation Knowledge of traffic laws and transportation regulations Emergency response and incident reporting Basic communication with parents and staff Risk and behavior management for young children Adherence to nonprofit and YMCA safety policies
