Dial-A-Ride Transit Bus Driver We are looking for a few additional drivers to join our team. Reliability and punctuality are extremely important! This is a part-time role with up to 28 hours per week.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED. Must have a valid Chauffeur's License. Must have an exceptional driving record. Must submit to pre-employment and random MDOT drug & alcohol testing. Transit experience is preferred but not mandatory. Knowledge of the Belding area is a plus. Subject to Pre-employment background check
Hourly Pay:
$15 - $16 per hour based on qualifications
Business Hours:
6:30 am - 4:15 pm •
Job Responsibilities Daily Operational Duties:
Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles. Promptly report any mechanical or maintenance concerns using the provided inspection forms. Keep the vehicle clean at the end of every shift and as needed throughout the day. Refuel the vehicle as necessary during or at the end of shifts. Dispatch Communications Maintain constant communication with dispatch via two-way radio. Receive updated call details regarding passenger pickups, cancellations, and scheduled future rides. Relay necessary passenger communications or updates back to dispatch. Passenger Service & Vehicle Safety Safely operate the vehicle and transport passengers in full compliance with all traffic laws and transit safety regulations. Safely operate hydraulic lifts and perform proper mobility device securements (wheelchairs, scooters, etc.). Actively monitor passenger activity and maintain a safe, respectful environment onboard the vehicle. Fare Collection & Financial Accountability Verify that the correct passenger fare is collected or presented upon boarding. Accurately log passenger payments, punch cards, and tokens. Sell punch cards and tokens upon request, maintaining full accountability for all assigned inventory. Total out cash on assigned trip sheets to match expected farebox balances at shift end. Turn in farebox and daily paperwork to dispatch at the end of each shift. Monthly & Periodic Responsibilities Complete administrative tasks or specialized operational assignments as directed by transit management. Participate in scheduled safety updates, team meetings, or retraining sessions. Compliance & Mandatory Training Drivers must maintain active certifications and operate in strict adherence to: ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Policy & Procedures Title VI Nondiscrimination Policy FTA Drug & Alcohol Policy Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) Training (or state/agency equivalent) All additional local Dial-A-Ride operational policies and standard operating procedures.
