HR Job Summary/Basic Function:
Under the supervision of the LSSU Charter Schools designee, provide safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for university groups and contracted events. The drivers will be responsible for transporting students, staff, athletic teams, and other groups to various events, ensuring compliance with all Michigan licensing laws, University Risk and Safety policies, and OSHA safety standards.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate university-contracted buses and vans safely and professionally. Transport passengers reliably to scheduled destinations in a punctual manner. Perform vehicle inspections before and after trips as required. Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and university transportation policies. Maintain precise trip logs and mileage reports. Assist passengers with boarding and exiting as needed. Maintain the cleanliness and basic maintenance of assigned vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Group B and Passenger (P) endorsement. 2. Clean driving record with no major violations and a background check. 3. Ability to successfully complete all necessary State of Michigan driving and safety examinations. 4. Must meet all OSHA and Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance standards. 5. Previous experience operating commercial buses or passenger vehicles. 6. Minimum age of 21 years old (following CDL passenger requirements). 7. Excellent communication and customer service skills. 8. Availability to work evenings, weekends, on-call shifts, and irregular schedules as required.
