Job Summary We are seeking energetic and responsible School Bus Drivers to join our team! In this vital role, you will ensure the safe transportation of students to and from school, adhering to traffic laws and district policies. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help create a positive experience for students while maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer service. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles according to all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations. Transport students to and from school, field trips, extracurricular activities, and special events with punctuality and professionalism. Assist students with disabilities or mobility challenges by providing wheelchair assistance and ensuring their safety during transit. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including emergency stop procedures and first aid protocols when necessary. Maintain discipline on the bus by implementing behavior management strategies in accordance with school policies. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, report maintenance issues promptly, and perform heavy lifting as needed for vehicle checks. Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, students, and dispatchers to respond quickly to traffic changes or unforeseen circumstances. Skills Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and state/local commercial driving laws. Strong communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging with diverse communities. Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies with calmness and precision. Experience working with children or in childcare settings; familiarity with student discipline strategies. CPR certification and first aid training; knowledge of emergency response procedures for transportation incidents. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; excellent customer service skills; attention to detail in vehicle inspections. Familiarity with child behavior management techniques; understanding of school policies related to student safety and conduct.
