Duties Safely operate school buses and transit vehicles in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations. Ensure the safety of all passengers by following established safety protocols, including emergency stop procedures and child behavior management strategies. Maintain a clean, well-maintained vehicle by conducting pre-trip inspections and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Respond swiftly to traffic changes or emergencies by applying defensive driving techniques and emergency response procedures for transportation incidents. Complete detailed reports on routes, incidents, or safety concerns. Support the overall transportation program by adhering to school policy guidelines and participating in ongoing training on child safety and transportation regulations. Qualifications Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus operation; experience working with children is highly preferred. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and state/local commercial driving laws.
