Responsibilities Safely operate commercial vehicles such as school buses, transit buses, and paratransit vans in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, behavior management, and boarding procedures to ensure a comfortable experience for all riders Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid when necessary Maintain communication with dispatchers and passengers using clear English to provide quick responses to traffic changes or route adjustments Conduct vehicle inspections before trips, perform emergency stop procedures if needed, and report any mechanical issues promptly Enforce student discipline policies and manage passenger behavior to promote a safe environment onboard Assist with heavy lifting tasks related to vehicle maintenance or passenger needs while adhering to safety protocols Ensure compliance with state and local commercial driving laws, vehicle codes, and school policy requirements at all times Experience Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport Prior experience driving school buses, transit buses, or similar commercial vehicles preferred Knowledge of traffic laws, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures for transportation environments Experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable Strong communication skills in English for effective interaction with passengers and team members Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes and adapt driving accordingly Familiarity with behavior management techniques and student discipline policies is a plus Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle vehicle maintenance tasks when necessary Embark on a career that combines active driving with meaningful community service!
