Job Description
Powhatan School is seeking a dependable, safety-minded CDL Bus Driver to join our transportation team. This position is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, athletic events, field trips, and other school activities while providing a positive and professional experience for our students. Responsibilities Safely transport students according to established school routes and schedules. Operate school buses in a safe, courteous, and responsible manner. Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Maintain a clean and orderly bus. Follow all Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and school transportation regulations. Communicate effectively with school administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents. Maintain appropriate student supervision and confidentiality. Report safety concerns, vehicle issues, accidents, or incidents promptly. Assist with occasional athletic trips, field trips, and special events as needed. Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate passenger and school bus endorsements, including air brake endorsement. Clean driving record and ability to meet all applicable Virginia school bus driver requirements. Prior experience transporting children or working in a school environment is preferred. Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious. Professional demeanor and positive attitude when working with students. Ability to pass required background checks and other employment screenings. Schedule This is a part-time, school-year position . The typical schedule includes morning and afternoon routes, with additional hours available for athletic events, field trips, and other school activities. Why Join Powhatan School?
