POSITION SUMMARY
Our Client is seeking dependable Laboratory Couriers / Medical Couriers to support healthcare operations during a temporary staffing assignment in Northern California. The Laboratory Courier is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transportation of laboratory specimens, medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, records, and other healthcare materials between facilities. This role is critical to maintaining efficient patient care operations while ensuring proper handling, security, and confidentiality of all transported items.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Pick up and deliver laboratory specimens between healthcare facilities and designated locations. Transport medical supplies, medications, records, and diagnostic materials according to established procedures. Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules while maintaining on-time performance. Maintain chain-of-custody documentation for laboratory specimens and sensitive materials. Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation requirements are met. Complete delivery logs, manifests, mileage reports, and transportation documentation accurately. Communicate effectively with laboratory personnel, clinical staff, and operations teams regarding deliveries and pickups. Inspect assigned vehicles and report maintenance, safety, or transportation issues promptly.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Valid driver's license. Acceptable driving record that meets client and insurance requirements. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to safely operate vehicles for extended periods of time. Ability to lift, carry, load, and unload medical supplies, packages, and specimens. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to follow established transportation, documentation, and chain-of-custody procedures. Strong communication and customer service skills. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Ability to pass all credentialing and compliance requirements. Ability to work flexible schedules and shift assignments. Ability to deploy on short notice if activated.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous hospital experience. Previous travel assignment experience. Experience working in large healthcare systems. Previous strike-event, emergency response, or contingency staffing experience. Previous medical courier or laboratory courier experience. Experience transporting laboratory specimens and medical materials. Knowledge of specimen integrity and chain-of-custody requirements. Experience with delivery manifests, route logs, and transportation tracking systems. Experience working in regulated healthcare environments.
