Position Summary:
The Mailroom Courier is responsible for the timely, secure, and accurate collection, transportation, sorting, and delivery of election-related mail, ballots, supplies, and official documents. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of election materials while ensuring all deliveries are completed according to established schedules and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Pick up, sort, and deliver incoming and outgoing election mail, ballots, and official correspondence. Transport sensitive election materials between election offices, polling locations, government facilities, and designated drop-off sites. Maintain strict chain-of-custody procedures for ballots and confidential election documents. Verify, log, and obtain signatures for all deliveries and pickups as required. Assist with receiving, organizing, and distributing election supplies and equipment. Operate mailroom equipment such as postage meters, scanners, copiers, and labeling machines. Ensure all mail and packages are processed accurately and delivered on schedule. Report delivery discrepancies, damaged materials, or security concerns immediately to management. Maintain accurate records of courier routes, deliveries, and inventory movement. Follow all election policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements. Assist with mailroom operations and other election support duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience in mailroom operations, courier services, logistics, or warehouse operations preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive election materials with integrity. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email. Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and extended hours during election periods.
