School Nurse/Building Principal Hours:
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Position Summary The Medical/Building Clerk/Courier works with the District Nurse to support the day to day needs of the health office and students. The building's main office is the primary assignment during the student day. The employee may also assist with office, or other building needs when health office responsibilities allow. Medical Responsibilities Student Health Support Provide basic first aid and routine student care within the employee's training. Assist students with routine medications according to District procedures, required training, and student healthcare plans. Assist with established diabetic care after completing required training. Provide health office coverage when the District Nurse is assisting students elsewhere or working in another building. Contact parents or guardians regarding routine student health needs as directed. Document student visits and care provided. Refer illnesses, injuries, or concerns that require nursing assessment to the District Nurse. Follow District procedures during student health emergencies. Health Records and Office Support Enter health information into Skyward. Help track physicals, immunizations, dental exams, eye exams, and other required health records. Prepare notices and make routine follow up calls to families. File and organize student health records. Help monitor medication supplies and provide routine refill reminders. Assist with health office paperwork, supplies, and inventory. Assist with dental program paperwork and consent forms. Hearing and Vision Screening Support Help the District Nurse prepare schedules and student lists for hearing and vision screenings. Track students needing make up screenings or rescreening. Assist with paperwork, filing, and parent notifications. Provide health office coverage on designated screening days while the District Nurse conducts screenings. Building Clerk Responsibilities Building and Office Support Provide scheduled coverage for Building Secretaries during breaks and lunches. Assist with front office coverage during staff absences or other times when additional support is needed. Assist with end-of-day front office and bus coverage. Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and school information. Answer telephone calls, take messages, provide routine information, and direct calls to the appropriate staff member. Greet visitors, students, and staff; assist with questions and direct individuals to the appropriate person or location. Maintain visitor logs and follow established building procedures for visitors. Operate standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, phones, and other office equipment. Receive, sort, distribute, and process incoming mail and other materials. Student health and safety needs will take priority when the employee is needed in the health office. Courier Responsibilities Picks up and delivers mail and inter-office correspondence Runs errands for the Central Office and the Business Office Responds to requests by building principals for messenger services Performs such other tasks, consistent with the positions, as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate of good health signed by a licensed physician, as required by the District. Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact professionally with students, families, and staff. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, student healthcare plans, and District procedures. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with students and fellow employees. Ability to enforce school rules, regulations, and policies in a professional manner. Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time and lift up to 40 pounds. Knowledge of Google Workspace and basic computer programs. Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, and multi-line phone systems. Experience working with children or in a school, healthcare, or office setting preferred. Important Role Distinction The Medical/Building Clerk/Courier does not replace the District Nurse. The District Nurse remains responsible for nursing assessments, care plans, complex medical needs, emergencies requiring nursing judgment, state health reporting, staff training, and other responsibilities that require nursing licensure or professional nursing judgment.
