QUALIFICATIONS
1. Valid High school graduation or equivalent.2. Valid Rhode Island or Massachusetts Drivers License and clean driving record.3. Personal Liability Vehicle Insurance.4. Ability to work independently.5. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions.6. Capable of handling heavy boxes up to 30 pounds without assistance.7. Submit to a criminal background check (BCI).
DESCRIPTION OF BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide mail and computer equipment delivery and courier services for school sites and departments, throughout the District in addition to the Credit Union and Town Hall on an assigned route.
SUPERVISOR
Human Resources Manager/Designee
TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Provides daily pickup and delivery of interoffice mail between the eight district schools, Town Hall, and the Cumberland Municipal Employees FCU.2. Separate, sort and distribute mail by department in the Admin Office area.3. Deliver mail to school buildings in a timely manner.4. Deliver and pick up chromebooks & other IT equipment.5. Demonstrate initiative in performance of assigned responsibilities.6. Follow attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.7. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Knowledge of:
1. Proper loading and unloading of vehicles. 2. Basic methods and practices used in delivery. 3. Vehicle safety.
Ability to:
1. Drive personal vehicle to pick-up and deliver mail and materials.2. Observe legal and safe driving practices.3. Meet Schedules and timelines. 4. Understand and follow oral and written directions.5. Follow School Department rules and procedures. 6. Meet and maintain the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned job functions in a safe and effective manner.7. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 8. Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
1. Visual acuity to observe driving hazards and road signs.2. Auditory perception to hear traffic noises & hazards.3. Excellent communication skills. 4. Reach overhead and horizontally to retrieve and store supplies.5. Sit or stand for extended periods of time. 6. Kneel or crouch.7. Lift moderately heavy objects.8. Walk and climb stairs.9. Carrying, pushing or pulling packages and hand trucks.
