The Non-Medical Transportation Driver is a vital part of our team, responsible for providing safe, dependable, and compassionate transportation services to clients attending our adult day healthcare program. This role involves transporting clients to and from the facility, assisting with their needs during transit, and ensuring an elevated level of care and comfort throughout the journey. The driver will exemplify our core values while maintaining the vehicle's safety and cleanliness.
Areas of Responsibility:
Safe Vehicle Operation:
•Operate vehicles in a safe manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
Pre-trip and Post-trip Inspections:
•Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and functionality.
Client Assistance:
•Assist clients, including those with mobility challenges, in entering and exiting the vehicle safely.
Route Planning and Navigation:
•Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely transportation of clients to their destinations.
Record Keeping:
•Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, fuel consumption, and service logs. Compliance with
Regulations:
•Adhere to all applicable state and federal regulations regarding non-emergency medical transportation.
Communication:
•Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare providers regarding transportation needs and schedules.
Emergency Response:
•Respond appropriately to emergencies, including medical situations or vehicle breakdowns.
Vehicle Maintenance:
•Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to ensure the vehicle remains in good working condition
Requirments:
Minimum Age Requirement:
•Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid Driver's License:
•Hold a valid Kentucky driver's license appropriate for the vehicle being operated.
Clean Driving Record:
•No major violations (e.g., DUI, reckless driving) within a specified period; typically, no more than one minor violation in the last three years.
Background Check:
•Successfully pass a criminal background check, including checks against state and federal databases.
Medical Examination and Drug Screen:
•Complete a medical examination to ensure physical fitness for driving duties, including vision and hearing assessments.•Complete a drug screen.
Training Requirements:
•Complete any required training programs, which may include defensive driving, first aid, and CPR certification, particularly for medical transportation drivers.
Knowledge of Transportation Regulations:
•Familiarity with state and federal transportation regulations, including those specific to non-emergency medical transportation.
Customer Service Skills:
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with clients, their families, and healthcare providers.
Compassion, Respect, Kindness, and Empathy:
•Ability to provide compassionate care and assistance to clients, especially those with mobility challenges or special needs.
Vehicle Safety Knowledge:
•Understanding of vehicle safety features and proper use of equipment, such as wheelchair lifts and tie-downs.
