Job Overview Hamer Services LLC is seeking a dependable, professional, and customer-focused Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver to provide safe, timely, and reliable transportation for members traveling to and from non-emergency medical appointments. Drivers are responsible for ensuring passengers arrive safely while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining compliance with all company policies, ModivCare requirements, and applicable South Carolina regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to communicate effectively with dispatch, members, caregivers, and medical facilities. Operate required technology, including tablets, smartphones, GPS navigation systems, and NEMT scheduling and transportation software. Follow all dispatch instructions, assigned trip schedules, routing directions, and operational procedures established by management. Provide safe, courteous, respectful, and professional transportation services to all members. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and immediately report any safety or mechanical concerns. Assist passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle safely. Properly secure passengers, wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices in accordance with company policy and safety regulations. Safely assist with lifting or handling passengers and mobility equipment weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and professional vehicle at all times. Complete all required trip documentation accurately and on time using company-issued technology. Adhere to scheduled pickup and drop-off times while communicating delays promptly to dispatch. Maintain professional communication with dispatch, members, caregivers, and medical facilities throughout the workday. Cell phone use is strictly prohibited while driving or while members are present in the vehicle, except in emergency situations or when otherwise permitted by company policy. Comply with all South Carolina traffic laws, South Carolina Department of Transportation regulations, company safety policies, HIPAA privacy requirements, and ModivCare transportation standards. Experience and Eligibility Requirements Previous NEMT, medical transportation, delivery, rideshare, or professional driving experience is preferred but not required. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license and have maintained continuous driving privileges for at least three (3) years. Must be at least 23 years of age. Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company insurance requirements. Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Must successfully pass a criminal background check in accordance with company, broker, and state requirements. Must remain eligible for coverage under the company's commercial automobile insurance policy throughout employment. Education Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Physical Requirements Drivers must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Frequent Physical Activities Sitting for extended periods while driving. Driving company vehicles safely throughout the workday. Entering and exiting the vehicle multiple times during each shift. Walking. Hearing and verbal communication. Maintaining visual awareness and attention to surroundings. Occasional Physical Activities Climbing. Kneeling. Bending. Reaching. Standing for extended periods. Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds. Assisting members with mobility equipment. Running short distances during emergency situations, if necessary. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in company vehicles while transporting members throughout the service area. Drivers may work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other outdoor environments. Schedules may include early mornings, evenings, and holidays based on operational needs.
