Job Summary Join our dynamic team as an Ambulance/Wheelchair and Stretcher Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver! In this vital role, you will provide safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation services for patients requiring non-emergency medical travel. Your energetic and customer-focused approach will ensure passengers arrive comfortably and on time, adhering to all safety and traffic regulations. Whether transporting patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or passenger vehicle, you'll be the friendly face ensuring their journey is smooth and stress-free. Duties Safely operate ambulances, passenger vans, wheelchair vans, or stretchers to transport clients to medical appointments, hospitals, or care facilities. Assist patients with boarding and disembarking vehicles, providing compassionate support and ensuring proper handling of wheelchairs or stretchers. Maintain clear communication with clients regarding pick-up times and destinations to ensure punctuality. Follow all local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including traffic laws and safety protocols. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure optimal operation of transportation equipment. Document trip details accurately in logs or electronic records, including mileage, destinations, and any incidents during transport. Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger needs professionally and courteously throughout each trip. Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience with delivery driving, bus driving, shuttle driving, or chauffeur services is highly valued. Experience operating passenger vehicles such as vans, limousines, or shuttle buses; familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient routing. Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of wheelchairs or stretchers safely. Prior medical transportation experience preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate. Strong knowledge of local driving routes and adherence to all traffic regulations and safety standards. Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with clients and team members. Ability to maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform basic maintenance tasks as needed. Demonstrated reliability with a focus on punctuality and professionalism in client interactions.
