A MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR

(MERIT, T32), WG-5703-8, (1) Operes primarily straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approxime gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 pounds and/or truck tractors with semitrailers or full trailers to transport personnel or pick up and deliver supplies, merials or equipment. Incumbent couples and uncouples the truck tractor and semitrailer or truck and trailer, and connects and disconnects the air brakes and electrical lines. Incumbent maneuvers vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground, in narrow or congested areas, between buildings and other vehicles, between parked aircraft and when positioning vehicles loading docks. Driver operes vehicles on interste highways, winding roads, and steep grades and manipules the dual braking system to prevent the semitrailer or trailer from jackknifing. Assures cargo is properly loaded, distributed and secured. Performs operor maintenance on vehicles. (2) Ensures shipping and accounting documents are with the shipment and reflect actual condition, quantities and type of merial. Completes log books, maintenance records, reports and other transportion documents for accure accounting. May identify, inspect, and segrege equipment or merial as it is received for obvious damage and needed repairs. (3) May perform warehouse work to include issuing receiving and inventorying equipment, supplies and merials; loading and unloading of trucks; storing and pulling warehouse stock; packing and unpacking merial; and repairing or replacing items on equipment. May select storehouse locions within the general warehousing plan. Operes electric, gasoline or diesel-powered forklift trucks. (4) May perform a variety of extensive servicing and light maintenance work on assigned vehicles. May assist in dispching vehicles or in the issuance of forms, credit cards or military driver's licences. (5) Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This position is being filled under Merit Promotion procedures and is open to current employees only. Minnesota Nional Guard Membership is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain the approprie security clearance of the position. Most MNNG position are covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Irregular and/or overtime (compensory) hours may be required to support operional requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. For positions requiring the operion of motor vehicles, candides must have a valid ste driver's license for the ste in which they live or are principally employed.

MILITARY COMPATIBILITY

Upon selection, individuals will undergo a background check to valide suitability for employment with the federal government as permitted by law, regulion, Presidential order or other authority. Suitability is dependent upon the particular requirements for security clearance, sensitivity level, and DOD IT network access. Items checked include, but are not limited to all criminal history record informion, employment history, educion and fiscal accountability/responsibility. The individual selected must be assigned to a compible military position and must also maintain sisfactory membership in the Minnesota Army Nional Guard. Qualificions In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. WG - Experience or training which demonstres the ability to follow instructions and safely opere the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.

Specialized Experience:

WG-08 - Experience or training which demonstres the ability to opere and perform operor maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approxime gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Experience demonstring ability to opere truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches. Experience opering vehicles over a variety of roads including interste highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Experience driving vehicles without mishap in compliced traffic situions.
