Position Overview As a Flight Instructor at RVA Flyers, you'll play an important role in developing the next generation of pilots while creating an engaging and enjoyable training experience. We're looking for instructors who are not only knowledgeable and professional but also friendly, approachable, patient, and able to connect with people from all backgrounds. The ideal candidate knows how to make learning fun, build strong relationships with students, and create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing their confidence. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality flight and ground instruction in accordance with FAA regulations and RVA Flyers' training standards. Deliver training under both Part 61 and Part 141 programs. Create an engaging, positive, and enjoyable learning experience for students. Build strong relationships with students through effective communication, patience, and encouragement. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different personalities, learning styles, and experience levels. Prepare students for FAA knowledge tests, stage checks, and practical examinations. Evaluate student progress and provide constructive, supportive feedback. Conduct thorough preflight and postflight briefings emphasizing safety, decision-making, and aeronautical knowledge. Maintain accurate and timely student training records and documentation. Work collaboratively with fellow instructors and management to maintain a positive team environment. Uphold company policies, operating procedures, and the highest standards of aviation safety. Required Qualifications Valid FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Certificate. Valid FAA Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) Certificate. FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with appropriate category and class ratings. Ability to meet applicable FAA medical and pilot qualification requirements. Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and aviation safety practices. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Friendly, approachable personality with the ability to connect with students and coworkers. Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for aviation. Ability to make learning enjoyable while maintaining professionalism and safety. Strong organizational skills, reliability, and a commitment to student success. Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous flight instruction experience. Experience flying or instructing in Diamond DA40 aircraft. Familiarity with Part 141 training programs. Experience with electronic flight scheduling and student training records.
