Job Description

Waypoint Medical Transport is hiring a driver.
THE WORK
You drive a wheelchair accessible van, taking people to their scheduled medical appointments and home again. Dialysis, doctor visits, hospital discharges. Most of your riders will be the same people every week, and you will know them by name. This is door through door service, not curb to curb. You help the rider from inside their home to the desk at their destination. You secure the wheelchair yourself, four points, every trip.
THE SCHEDULE
Three 12-hour days a week, 36 hours. This is a full time position. Days rotate. The schedule is posted two weeks in advance and does not change after it is posted. You are paid for your 36 hours whether or not a rider cancels. Some shifts start at 5:00 AM. Additional hours and a fourth day as volume grows. PAY $18.00 to $25.00 per hour. You are given the written pay scale with its scheduled increases before you accept the job, so you can see exactly what you earn and when it goes up. Increases are based on tenure combined with a clean driving and incident record. This is a W-2 position. You are an employee, not a contractor.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
All training, including passenger assistance certification and renewals, CPR and First Aid. Company van, fuel card and uniforms. Paid sick time after 90 days. Ohio workers compensation coverage.
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU APPLY
We would rather you read this now than quit in week three. Some shifts start at 5:00 AM. Winter mornings mean clearing ice off the ramp before the first pickup. Twelve hours is a long day. Riders are elderly and often frail. Some are confused. Patience matters more than driving skill, and that is not a figure of speech. The work is physical. You will push, lift and secure wheelchairs. We do not accept tips.
REQUIREMENTS
At least 21 years old Valid Ohio driver license, continuously licensed at least three years Fewer than six points on your Ohio driving record No at-fault accidents and no license suspension in the past five years No DUI, OVI or reckless operation, ever Insurable under our commercial auto policy Pass a BCI and FBI background check, a 10 panel drug screen, and a physical Current CPR and First Aid, or willing to obtain it. We pay for it No CDL required
TO APPLY
Email a resume to john@gowaypointmedical.com. Candidates ride along for half a shift before an offer is made. You get to see the job before you take it, and we get to see you work. Waypoint Medical Transport is a veteran owned, Ohio licensed ambulette service based in Canton. Start date depends on final state licensing and is expected in November.
