Job Description

Position Summary The Lot Technician / Detailer is responsible for the physical movement, cleaning, and upkeep of boats on the dealership lot and in storage. This role keeps boats staged correctly for service, storage, and customer pickup, and makes sure units look presentable and are handled safely. The pace shifts with the season — busy moving and prepping boats in spring and summer, and more focused on storage organization and winterization support in the colder months. Key Responsibilities Move, stage, and organize boats on the lot and in storage areas using trailers, forklifts, or tow vehicles as needed Wash, detail, and clean boat exteriors and interiors for service, storage, and customer delivery Prep boats for customer pickup, ensuring they are clean, staged, and ready on schedule Load and unload boats for storage drop-off and pick-up appointments Assist technicians with basic prep work: removing covers, connecting batteries, positioning units for service bays Keep the lot organized, boats properly blocked/chocked, and walkways/aisles clear Support winterization and de-winterization tasks alongside the service team Perform minor maintenance tasks as directed (e.g., battery checks, cleaning bilges, checking covers/straps) Report any damage, leaks, or mechanical issues noticed during moves or detailing to the service writer/manager Keep detailing equipment and supplies clean, organized, and stocked Follow safety procedures when operating lot equipment and working around boats and trailers Assist with general lot upkeep: trash, debris, and seasonal cleanup Daily To-Do Checklist A general rhythm for the day — order and emphasis will shift with the day's move/detail schedule and season. Check in with service writer/lot manager on the day's move, detail, and pickup schedule Review which boats are due out for customer pickup or scheduled service that day Stage boats needed for service bays or scheduled appointments Wash and detail boats scheduled for pickup or that need refreshing in storage Move boats in/out of storage per the day's drop-off and pick-up list Assist technicians with prep or basic tasks as boats come into the shop Walk the lot to check boat placement, covers, straps, and general condition Note and report any damage or issues spotted during moves or detailing Clean and put away detailing equipment and supplies Confirm next day's pickup, storage, and move schedule before heading out Secure the lot: covers on, units blocked/chocked, equipment stored, gates/doors locked Qualifications & Skills Comfortable with physical work: lifting, bending, and being outdoors in varying weather Experience driving, towing, or maneuvering trailers is a plus Detail-oriented with pride in presentation of the boats and lot Basic mechanical aptitude helpful, though not required Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work well as part of a team Prior experience in a marine, auto, or RV lot/detail role is a plus but not required — willing to train Work Environment This is primarily an outdoor, hands-on role at a marine dealership and service center. Work involves moving boats, operating lot equipment, and detailing in varying weather conditions. Volume is higher in spring and summer with service and pickup traffic, and shifts toward storage organization and winterization support in the slower winter months.
Pay:
$15.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 40.0 per week
