Job Description

Position Summary The NEISEC Delivery Driver provides reliable delivery and transportation support for the Northeast Indiana Special Education Cooperative. This is a part-time position working approximately 20-25 hours per week, five days per week, following the school calendar. The position does not work during extended school breaks, including winter and summer breaks. The Delivery Driver travels between the NEISEC office, member school districts, classrooms, and other locations as needed using a NEISEC-provided vehicle. Daily responsibilities will vary. Some days may primarily involve picking up and delivering mail, records, or supplies, while other days may involve transporting equipment, classroom materials, furniture, or other items between NEISEC locations. The successful candidate must be dependable, trustworthy, organized, and comfortable working independently. The position requires flexibility, good judgment, and the ability to adjust to changing needs throughout the school year. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Pick up and deliver mail, documents, supplies, equipment, and other materials between the NEISEC office, schools, classrooms, and other designated locations. Follow an established daily delivery route while adjusting to additional or changing delivery needs as directed. Assist with moving classroom materials, equipment, furniture, and supplies from one location to another. Safely load, secure, transport, and unload items. Handle student records and other confidential materials appropriately and maintain confidentiality at all times. Communicate with NEISEC office staff regarding deliveries, schedule changes, special requests, or concerns. Ensure items are delivered to the correct location and appropriate staff member. Maintain care and security of NEISEC property and materials while in transport. Safely and responsibly operate a NEISEC-provided vehicle. Promptly report vehicle concerns, damage, or maintenance needs. Follow all traffic laws and NEISEC safety procedures. Maintain a dependable work schedule and complete assigned routes and deliveries in a timely manner. Interact professionally and courteously with school personnel and other NEISEC stakeholders. Work independently with limited direct supervision. Assist with other transportation, delivery, or general support duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Valid driver's license required. Must meet NEISEC requirements for operation of a Cooperative-owned vehicle. Safe and responsible driving record. Dependable and punctual, with consistent attendance. Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities with limited supervision. Ability to follow directions, schedules, and delivery routes. Ability to communicate effectively with NEISEC staff and school personnel. Ability to use a cell phone for communication and basic navigation as needed. Ability to maintain confidentiality when transporting student records or other sensitive information. Flexibility and willingness to assist with a variety of tasks as needs change. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous delivery, driving, school, or similar work experience helpful but not required. Work Schedule Part-time, approximately 20-25 hours per week. Five days per week. Follows the school calendar. The position does not work during extended school breaks, including winter and summer breaks. Daily hours may vary somewhat depending on delivery needs and school schedules. Physical Requirements This position requires frequent driving and entering and exiting a vehicle throughout the workday. The employee must be able to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and move materials as necessary to complete assigned duties. The employee must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds independently and assist with moving heavier items with appropriate assistance. Professional Expectations The NEISEC Delivery Driver is expected to be dependable, professional, and courteous; complete assigned deliveries accurately and in a timely manner; maintain confidentiality; use NEISEC vehicles and property responsibly; and contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of the Cooperative.
