Position Overview Lakeshore Food Club (LFC) is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Regional Food Access Driver to support the movement of food throughout Mason, Lake, and Oceana counties. Operating LFC's electric cargo van, this position completes scheduled deliveries to school-based Food Clubs, refrigerated locker locations at West Shore Community College, and other LFC program sites. The driver may also complete smaller local food rescue pickups in Mason County. This role is essential to ensuring food moves safely, reliably, and on schedule across LFC's regional food access network. Key Responsibilities School-Based Food Club Deliveries Load, transport, and deliver food and program supplies to LFC school-based Food Club locations according to established schedules and delivery instructions. Coordinate with LFC staff and school contacts to ensure accurate, timely, and professional deliveries. Refrigerated Locker Deliveries Complete scheduled deliveries of member orders and food to refrigerated locker locations at West Shore Community College and other designated sites. Follow established procedures for order accuracy, temperature control, locker loading, and delivery confirmation. Local Food Rescue Pickups Complete smaller local food rescue pickups in Mason County, including participating locations such as Meijer, Walmart, Starbucks, Aldi, and other approved partners as assigned. Transport rescued food safely to the Regional Food Hub or designated LFC location while maintaining food safety and chain-of-custody expectations. This position is focused on local and regional routes and is not responsible for LFC's longer-distance food rescue pickups unless specifically assigned. Vehicle Operations & Safety Safely operate LFC's electric cargo van throughout Mason, Lake, and Oceana counties in accordance with traffic laws, LFC policies, and insurance requirements. Complete routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and promptly report maintenance, charging, safety, or mechanical concerns. Maintain appropriate EV charging levels and coordinate charging so the vehicle is ready for scheduled routes. Keep the cargo area clean, organized, and suitable for transporting food. Food Handling & Route Documentation Load and unload food safely, using proper lifting, stacking, temperature-control, and food-handling practices. Maintain required route logs, pickup and delivery records, temperature documentation, mileage records, and other operational paperwork accurately and on time. Communicate delays, route changes, delivery issues, food safety concerns, or partner questions promptly to the appropriate LFC staff member. Team & Program Support Assist with loading, staging, inventory movement, and other Regional Food Hub tasks when not actively driving a route. Represent LFC's mission and values with professionalism, respect, and reliability when interacting with schools, community partners, volunteers, members, and food rescue partners. Qualifications & Experience Valid Michigan chauffeur's license, or ability to obtain the required chauffeur's license before independently operating the LFC vehicle. Safe driving record and ability to meet LFC insurance requirements. Previous delivery, transportation, warehouse, food service, or nonprofit experience preferred. Strong reliability, punctuality, organization, and attention to detail. Ability to independently follow route schedules, delivery instructions, and food safety procedures. Comfort operating an electric cargo van and using basic technology for navigation, communication, and route documentation. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment and communicate professionally with community partners. Physical Requirements Ability to frequently enter and exit a cargo van and safely load, unload, carry, push, and pull food and supplies throughout the workday. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with reasonable accommodation as applicable. $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
