Full Job Description Job Summary:
As a Driver at our hospitality-focused senior living community, you are responsible for providing safe and courteous transportation services for our residents. Your role is integral in ensuring residents can access essential services, medical appointments, social outings, and other activities while maintaining a high standard of service and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation Services:
Safely drive residents to various destinations, including medical appointments, shopping trips, recreational activities, and social outings. Ensure the timely arrival and departure of scheduled trips. Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to check for any mechanical issues or safety concerns. Maintain the cleanliness and proper functioning of the vehicle. Coordinate with residents and staff to schedule transportation for medical appointments and other essential services. Maintain an organized schedule of appointments and pickups. Provide residents with a courteous and welcoming experience during transportation. Assist residents with door-to-door service, including loading and unloading packages or groceries.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations during transportation. Assist residents with boarding and exiting the vehicle safely, using necessary mobility aids. Ensure that all community policies and procedures are followed, including those related to residents' well-being and safety.
Emergency Response:
Be prepared to handle medical emergencies, including administering basic first aid or CPR when necessary. Ensure that emergency contact information and medical supplies are readily available.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and family members to confirm trip details and address any concerns. Keep the management team informed of any changes to the transportation schedule.
Maintenance Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs. Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; a clean and valid driver's license is required. Previous experience as a driver, preferably in a hospitality, senior living, or healthcare setting. Knowledge of safe driving practices and traffic regulations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic first aid and CPR certification is advantageous. Familiarity with the use of mobility aids, such as wheelchairs and walkers. Ability to lift and assist residents with limited mobility. Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including weekends and evenings.
