The

PRC NEMT

Appointment Liaison/Driver works to meet client transportation needs in a timely and efficient manner. Coordinate pick-up and drop-off times based on client appointments, availability, and route optimization. Drive and accompany clients to medical appointments, offering patients translation service, note-taking service or companionship during the medical appointment. Work with

PRC NEMT

Scheduler/Dispatcher upon return to book subsequent transportation for any follow-up appointments. Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, schedulers, drivers, healthcare facilities, and other stakeholders. This position provides support services to the Purchased Referred Care Department and PRC Supervisor in maintaining a viable program that demonstrates compliance with policy and regulations. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide transportation, companionship, and assistance services to patients using a company vehicle, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the journey
  • Safely transport patients to and from medical appointments, ensuring punctuality and reliability. Assist patients as needed during boarding, disembarking, and throughout the duration of the trip.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers and other road users.
  • May provide patients with translation service, note-taking service, or one-to-one interactions for the duration of the appointment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and scheduler/dispatcher to coordinate pick-up and drop-off schedules.

Scheduler/Dispatcher, PRC Supervisor or designee

  • Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, and any incidents that may occur during transportation.
  • Coordinate and report vehicle concerns to supervisor, in a timely manner, and maintain cleanliness of company vehicles.
  • Report all vehicle accidents and ticket violations to your supervisor immediately and complete required documentation for all accidents within 24 hours of the accident/incident.
  • Maintain vehicle interior and exterior and arrange for preventative vehicle maintenance when due.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks before driving units, i.e., check fluid levels, check tire pressure and condition, and perform a general visual inspection.
  • Monitor and maintain the maintenance of vehicles per current rules and regulations to ensure that current standards are met and the vehicles are safe to operate
  • Deliver services with utmost safety and responsibility, operating the vehicle securely and employing safe moving techniques.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the
PRC NEMT

software systems and processes.

  • Complete, maintain, compile, and report accurate manual and electronic documentation of all job-related activities in PRC/SMH Software Systems
  • Participate in and attend all required in-services and educational programs to improve and/or learn job-related skills.
  • Uphold all principles of confidentiality and patient care according to NHF/SMH policy and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA Privacy Rule and completes HIPAA training annually.
  • Participate in and contribute to NHF/SMH and departmental quality improvement initiatives.
  • May have on-call duties

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Must possess at least three (3) years of driving experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Prior experience as an NEMT Driver is strongly preferred.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must provide a current MVD driving record history report for the last 5 years.
  • Must possess a current CPR and First Aid Certification (required).
  • Must be able to successfully pass the DOT Physical Requirements (once hired).
  • Ability to speak the Navajo language fluently.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:
  • Excellent customer relations and telephone skills are a necessity.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress environment performing tasks requiring attention to detail and precision.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills in order to interact with and connect with a diverse customer base, including the SMH patient population.
  • Must possess a high degree of integrity and trust.
  • Ability to work independently and follow tasks given by the supervisor.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance checks with understanding and or/repair on vehicle (example: Tire change).
  • Ability to follow GPS and use maps accurately
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
  • Demonstrate a strong teamwork mentality, building trustworthy and supportive working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Exhibit proficiency in using transportation management Driver Apps on smartphones and computers
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and drive for extended periods. The employee frequently is required to walk, stand, bend, and stoop. The employee may occasionally lift and/or carry items weighing up to 70 pounds. The employee may occasionally be required to assist patients with special needs, i.e., a client who needs assistance and can bare weight from wheel chair to seat or walker to seat. Available to work varied shifts to meet patient and business needs.

Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in a vehicle with a moderate noise level as well as an office with a moderate noise level. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
