Job Summary:
The Commercial Swing Driver is a highly skilled and versatile CDL driver responsible for providing operational support across multiple routes, divisions, and locations. This position fills in for scheduled vacations, absences, increased business demand, and other operational needs by safely operating residential, commercial, and roll-off equipment. The ideal candidate is adaptable, dependable, and committed to safety while maintaining excellent customer service. This role requires the ability to travel between Apex Waste Solutions' Parker and Denver North locations and successfully operate any line of business on any given day.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate residential front-load, rear-load, automated side-load, commercial front-load, and roll-off vehicles. Perform daily route assignments based on operational needs, including residential, commercial, and roll-off services. Provide coverage for driver absences, vacations, open routes, and peak operational periods. Travel between the Parker and Denver North facilities as needed to support business operations. Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and accurately document any defects. Operate equipment in compliance with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and local traffic laws. Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional and courteous attitude. Safely navigate residential neighborhoods, commercial properties, construction sites, and industrial locations. Ensure waste is collected efficiently while minimizing property damage and service disruptions. Complete route paperwork, electronic logs, and service documentation accurately. Report safety concerns, vehicle issues, accidents, and customer concerns promptly. Assist with route training and operational support when requested. Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations. Qualifications Required Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement. Current DOT Medical Card. Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Safe operation of commercial vehicles Strong defensive driving skills Route adaptability and flexibility Excellent time management Mechanical awareness and basic equipment troubleshooting Effective communication skills Ability to learn new routes quickly Customer-focused attitude Team-oriented mindset Dependability and professionalism Reliable attendance and flexibility with scheduling. Previous waste industry experience. Experience operating residential, commercial, and roll-off collection vehicles. Experience working in multiple route environments. Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check & drug screening.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Physical labor is required, including lifting and handling heavy loads. Early morning shifts and occasional weekend work may be required.
