SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Shuttle Driver will be an experienced tractor trailer driver in a Shuttle Driver role focused on loading and moving trailers from one location to the next. The Individual is responsible for ensuring we are in D.O.T. and safety compliance in all areas of the position.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Operate a commercial vehicle to transport goods between assigned locations. Conduct pre and post trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety. Maintain accurate logs, delivery records, and any required transportation paperwork. Follow all DOT, company, and safety regulations at all times. Work as a self-starter, completing tasks with little instruction Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately. Ensure any cargo that is being transported is secure to the trailer, using blocks, chains, covers, straps, load bars, or ropes. Must be able to inspect the trailer before/after each use/trip and record defects. Able to drive a manual transmission. Must be organized with attention to detail maintaining daily logbooks and inspections. Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines. Coordinates with Warehouse Associates to ensure safe docking and undocking. Inspect work areas and look for unsafe acts/conditions. (Truck, trailers, dock, dock locks, etc.) Make sure that all trailer doors (whether empty or loaded) are CLOSED when in motion. Effectively use verbal and written communications. Comply with D.O.T regulations, per FMCSR Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures. Report ALL Accidents and Injuries Immediately. Assists with other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Required:
Valid CDL-A Licensing (Commercial Driver License) and D.O.T Medical Certification

Year Tractor Trailer Driving Preferred:

Years Tractor Trailer Driving SKILLS:
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Proficient with utilization of computers, to include, but not limited to, Microsoft Office applications, Oracle, and handheld scanners.
Required:
  • Must be able to back into multiple Dock Doors repeatedly.
  • Must be able to Drop and Hook repeatedly in all kinds of weather.
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Both CDL-A and Medical Certification must be maintained.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds continuously throughout the shift. Work involves continuous sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, and twisting. Work involves continuous mounting and dismounting from forklift. Must have the physical ability to work a 12-hour shift schedule. Must have the cognitive ability to work 12-hour shift schedule. Must be available to work weekends. Must be able to work outside during inclement weather conditions, on occasion.
