This is a skilled position responsible for safely operating a Tractor and Trailer equipped with dump body and/or Dump Truck to transport and dump materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, lime, road debris, asphalt, & other construction aggregate. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
Essential Job Duties:
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operational order and report maintenance or repair issues. Operate trucks to deliver materials to construction and customer sites in a safe and efficient manner. Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions. Before loading, make sure the tailgate is latched. When loading, ensure proper materials are loaded in a safe & secure manner. Be familiar with tag-axle, tailgate, tarps, and location of levers and switches. Ensure bed and tarp are lowered after dumping. Check dispatch tickets for special instructions and complete prior to arriving on the job. Deliver construction materials to jobsites as instructed. Obtain proper signatures as required on truck tickets. Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle. Keep sideboards, asphalt lips and the back of truck free of all materials. Perform operator maintenance and minor field repairs (i.e., mud flaps and mirror adjustments). Maintain vehicle in a clean an orderly condition, inside and out. Shovel material as required. Maintain operator logs, timecards, mileage sheets, vehicle repair sheets, and records in accordance with company policy and department of transportation regulations. Maintain a clean work environment. May assist members of the workforce in other areas, including assisting with small repairs & maintenance of vehicles or equipment. Perform other related duties as required or directed whenever necessary. Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 75 lbs. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current class A CDL and current DOT medical card. Ability to work irregular hours, off hours and weekends as necessary. Two years with Class A CDL & one year dump or construction experience preferred.
