Job Description
Overview We are seeking a CDL Class A or B Driver to help seasonally. Great job for someone looking to pick up extra hours! Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Navigate using GPS systems to follow optimal routes for timely deliveries across regional or national distances. Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport. Manage the entire delivery process from load & unload procedures to final delivery, maintaining accuracy and efficiency throughout. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers, including checking for mechanical issues or safety hazards. Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in compliance with FMCSA regulations. Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle operated, including Hazmat if applicable. Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers such as flatbed or tanker trucks. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, GPS navigation systems, and route planning for efficient deliveries. Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling techniques. Ability to manually handle freight safely using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary. Strong understanding of DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for commercial driving. Experience with manual transmission trucks is preferred but not required; training can be provided for qualified candidates.
