Duties Safely operate box trucks, tractor-trailers, and other commercial vehicles on over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport. Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing travel time. Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols. Deliver freight to various locations, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and specialty trucks like roll-off or dump trucks. Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, and cargo handling activities in compliance with logistics procedures. Conduct pre-trip inspections on trucks to ensure vehicle safety, including checking load securement, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and tires. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on delivery driving across diverse routes. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, and other specialized equipment such as forklift operation or dump trucks is preferred. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat), and safety standards related to truck driving and cargo handling. Experience with manual transmission vehicles and manual handling techniques for cargo loading/unloading. Ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently for route planning and real-time adjustments. Prior experience in logistics cargo handling involving freight transportation across OTR routes or local deliveries is highly desirable.
