Job Description

The City of Patterson's Community Development Department is seeking to fill a full-time Permit Technician I or II position and to establish an eligibility list. Duties include but are not limited to: under general supervision, performs a variety of technical and administrative duties to support the operation of the Building division; provides information to the public related to the application processes and other policies and procedures; coordinates submitted projects and communicates with all involved departments; inputs data into automated information systems; updates and generates reports; performs other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service and communication skills to work effectively with co-workers and the general public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:
EDUCATION
Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by training related to permit issuance procedures is preferred. College-level coursework in building code requirements is highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE
:
Permit Technician I:
One (1) year of responsible administrative and/or technical work experience involving extensive public contact and document processing. Experience in construction or building is desirable.
Permit Technician II:
Two (2) years of responsible administrative and/or technical work experience involving extensive public contact and document processing with at least one year of the experience in a building division receiving and processing permit applications and issuing permits.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.
Permit Technician II:
In addition to the above: Possession of or the ability to obtain within one (1) year, an International Code Council (ICC) Permit Technician Certification.
